How exactly does refunding work?

Guys how does refunding work exactly?

After google: pay back (money), typically to a customer who is not satisfied with goods or services bought..

So I had to make the unpleasant decision of requesting a refund for Warcraft 3 Reforged because, simply put, I wasn't satisfied with how the game turned out to be (I only played it for around 2 hours but decided, that for one, there are too many technical issues to play it comfortably).

So I requested a refund from Blizzard and it went fast because they took a lot of heat and the process is now streamlined and automatic. I even got my money back already.

So I went and checked what happened to the game and... I'm able to play it just fine (at least for a few minutes I turned on a mission in campaign). Is this some sort of a bug or misunderstanding how these things work on my side?

For instance if you request a refund on Steam they give you you're money back but the game is deleted from your account. In some restaurants you can get your money back even after you've eaten quite a lot of a dish and people tend to exploit this...

So is refund supposed to be giving you your money back, or is "buying back" the product from you?

For now I don't want to play the game cus I'm not ok with exploiting this (isn't it like I'm using something I don't own anymore?) if it's really a bug plus I might risk some kind of ban from Blizzard.

I tried to google a bit about it but everywhere I look it's "get your money back" but nothing about "returning you product back to the provider".

Help? And don't say buck Flizzard cus it's not the issue here...

It's always best to ask the service provider when you are faced by such an issue. What a 'refund' constitutes is usually up to him, so you'd best write Blizzard an email.

You have contacted us due to some unexpected behaviour of your account after you completed the refund of Warcraft III. I did an investigation to verify the status of your license, but it appears it was downgraded properly and you don't have access to the game anylonger.

In order to do so, it was required to reset your password. You will find a link in your E-Mail to complete the process. Apologizes for the inconvenience!

It is very likely that the removal of the game license took a bit longer as the refund itself - this is why it was still possible to launch the game.

Oh, so you're gonna tell me that they didn't even notice my game was active? So if I weren't the good citizen that I am I could still play the game? Well didn't want to risk a ban there either way. And yeah, not even a thank you for being honest...

Joke company. Take your s*it game with you!

Mixing techy guys with customer service usually ends badly. They need to just hire a bunch of 19-year-old cheerleaders to run customer service.
